Checking Into Rehab

Rehab Bingo is an Irish bingo site that also offers games to UK players, which launched in 2005 originally just for players in Ireland but games for UK players were made available a year or so later. However, Rehab Bingo is more than just an online bingo site. The site also raises funds for the Rehab Group, Ireland’s largest charity, which supports over 50,000 people with disabilities across Ireland and the UK.

There are many charity bingo sites out there, including the likes of Bingo Giving and Charity Bingo. So, what we want to find out is how Rehab Bingo measures up against the other bingo sites out there that donate money to good causes.

Does the site need Rehab itself?

Before you can start playing the games at Rehab Bingo, you will first need to be a member at the site. Opening a new online bingo account at the site only takes a few easy steps.

The registration form is pretty straightforward and it requires the usual array of details such as personal details, contact details and a username and password selection. Once you have completed the registration process, you are prompted to make a deposit. However, if you want to take a look around before committing to making a deposit, you can simply close the window and log into your new Rehab Bingo account.

The Rehab Bingo looks very nice indeed, with fun and playful fonts and graphics accompanying a clear blue sky backdrop. However, as you delve a little deeper into the site, you will notice one or two things that have been overlooked. For example, the Rehab TV section of the website is filled with place holders for videos but with error messages saying that the videos are no longer available. Other little outdated bits of information were also discovered during our time at the site.

Bankroll Boost

When you first join Rehab Bingo, you aren’t showered with heaps of free bingo cash. What you will receive is a £30 bonus when you make a deposit of £10 or more, along with 150 free spins on hit new game Rabbit In The Hat. This gives your bankroll a healthy boost from the word go.

Rehab Bingo also offers weekly reload bonuses of 50% but details about these bonuses are a little thin on the ground.

Virtue Fusion Game Choices

Rehab Bingo is powered by the ever-popular Virtue Fusion bingo software, which means that the site is also hosted on the Virtue Fusion Bingo Network, alongside other well known bingo brands such as Gala Bingo and BetFred Bingo. As part of the VF network, the site offers a wide choice of bingo rooms, which include both local standalone rooms exclusively open to Rehab Bingo players and network bingo rooms, where players from across the entire network are competing for the same jackpots but where the prizes are much bigger!

Thanks to the aforementioned Virtue Fusion bingo software, Rehab Bingo is able to deliver a choice of US-style 75-ball bingo, 80-ball shutterboard bingo and classic 90-ball European bingo games, as well as a great choice of bingo side games. The bingo games play around the clock in a number of various rooms, which each have their very own offers and prizes.

The choice of online slots, casino games and instant win games at Rehab Bingo is pretty damn good. You will find a large number of the most popular online slots to play, which include Fluffy Favourites, Sugar Train and Clover Rollover, as well as popular instant win scratchcards such as Deal or No Deal: Quick Scratch and Ladies Night.

Conclusion

Rehab Bingo ticks a lot of the boxes required for it to be considered as a leading bingo site, such as the industry-leading bingo platform and network, as well as offering both standalone and networked bingo rooms. However, it falls a long way short of the internet’s best bingo sites like Tombola Bingo and 888Ladies Bingo, for example.

The History of Bingo

Bingo’s history is fiercely debated, but many believe it was invented in Southern Europe and eventually crossed the Channel in the 16th century. The century that witnessed the bloody conclusion of the Hundred Years’ War, the inevitable collapse of the Eastern Roman Empire, and the unrivalled genius of Leonardo da Vinci also birthed one of this country’s most popular pastimes.

These Renaissance-era games eventually gave rise to state lotteries, used by Kings and Queens to generate funds for the war effort. In the 1900s, they inspired an American carnival game known as “Beano”, and it’s from here that modern bingo really began to take shape.

Beano was played with numbered cards on which players would place beans. When the cards were full, the call of “Beano!” would bring a halt to festivities, prompting a quick check, a prize, and the commencement of yet another game. Beano eventually became Bingo when it was commercialised by American toy salesman Edwin S. Lowe in 1930.

According to legend, the name “Bingo” was a happy accident stemming from a minor misunderstanding. After discovering the game of Beano at a local carnival, Lowe is said to have arranged a quick game with friends, only for the eventual winner to mishear the rules and yell “Bingo” upon completing her card.

It makes for an interesting story, but the name had already been in use elsewhere, including here in the UK, and Lowe may have taken inspiration from these shores. The exact origin of the term is unclear, but what we do know is that modern bingo card designs were patented by Lowe in the early 1940s, and by the 1950s this game could be found throughout the United Kingdom.

Some fifty years later, the first online bingo games were developed, riding a wave of online gaming popularity orchestrated by developers like Microgaming and Playtech and that's just about when we came along..

What are the Odds of Winning at Online Bingo?

It depends entirely on how many cards you buy and how many players are in the game. Unlike lotteries, someone has to win in a game of bingo, so the fewer players there are and the more cards you have, the greater your chances of success will be. But remember, it only takes one card to be in with a chance of winning.
